ORIENTEERING WORLD CUP 2005
The British Orienteering Federation will be staging the first round of World Cup 2005 in May 2005 based in and around Guildford in Surrey. The event will include 7 races over 8 days and is likely to attract teams from 35 countries. Further information is available elsewhere on the event web site.
thule 916 for saleThe Event Directors are now seeking to appoint an Event Manager to co-ordinate the detail central organisation of the event. The tasks will include liasing with teams, local organisations, landowners etc on behalf of event officials and helping to ensuring that the event is staged in a professional manner and in line with the guidelines set by IOF
The Directors are also seeking to appoint an Event Development Officer who will plan and co-ordinate the development programme being put in place to maximise the opportunities presented by the event. The main objective of the development programme will be "to increase participation in orienteering, particularly among younger people".
Subject to the confirmation of funding, both roles will be part time for approximately 15 months, from Spring 2004 to Summer 2005. Both officials will be paid an appropriate fee and expenses. It is envisaged that each official will work for 1 to 2 days per week. It might be possible for one person to fulfil both roles.
Reporting to the Event Director, the successful candidate(s), ideally, will be:
- a self starter with enthusiasm, energy and flexibility
- able to work with both volunteers and professionals
- able to work during normal office hours and at weekends
- an experienced orienteer living within easy travelling distance of Guildford
- computer literate with ready access to email and the internet
- a driver with own car
