When did you start orienteering?

9 years old.

How much do you train each week?

5-8 hours.

How do you split the training between speed training and technique?

2 hours orienteering: 1 technique session during the week and one at the weekend.

Is there one tip that has particularly helped to improve your performance?

If it's not on the map, you don't see it.

Trust your compass.

Started athletics training.

What indulgences (if any) did you have to give up?

Football - especially watching Leeds United.

What do you do to relax?

Cinema, read, have a bath, shopping.

What areas do you like orienteering in most?

Really technical - Scandinavia.

Have you won any races?

British Champion Long Distance 2003; National Fell Running Relay Champion.

How do you run so fast through terrain without falling over or twisting an ankle?

Practice; training in terrain; used to do ballet; and tape ankles usually.

Was there any other sport you enjoyed when you were at school and had to give up to concentrate on orienteering?

Ballet; 5-a-side football.

Did do it, but wasn't very good at it.
