British Orienteering World Cup 2005 Ltd
British Orienteering World Cup 2005 Ltd (BOWC) is a subsidiary of British Orienteering Federation Ltd (BOF), the National Governing Body of the sport of orienteering in the United Kingdom.
BOWC is a company created for the purpose of running the Orienteering World Cup taking place in Great Britain in April & May 2005, together with related public orienteering races and a Young Orienteering Festival. Some development activities & courses related to orienteering are also being managed through BOWC.
BOWC is committed to personal privacy. We do not need to register under the Data Protection Act 1984 but will comply with the spirit of the Act.
Personal data obtained by BOWC in the course of organising the orienteering events, including any pre-event training activities, is strictly for the purpose of running the events. Individuals registering to enter the orienteering events, directly or through international teams, accept that entries will be processed by computer and that entering the event implies agreement to this.
BOWC and its event officials may hold some or all of the following data about individuals who compete in these orienteering events: name, date of birth, contact information, competition class, nationality, competition results. The only personal information that we will publish or disclose is that needed for orienteering purposes (e.g. start lists, results, commentary), where publication may be in paper form or on our website, or in connection with accommodation requests associated with attendance at the event.
Additional personal information will only be published with the permission of the person concerned. If a child could be identified from a photograph then the photograph will only be published with parental consent.
Personal data obtained by BOWC in the course of organising orienteering development activities (e.g. coaching & training courses) is strictly for the purpose of those activities. Individuals registering to participate in the development activities, directly or through other organisations or clubs, accept that registration details may be processed by computer and that registering for the event implies agreement to this.
The only personal information that will be published or disclosed is that needed for that activity (e.g. attendance lists).
Data retention & distribution
Personal data may be held in electronic or paper form. Personal data will not be made available for any commercial purpose to any other sporting bodies, companies or individuals. Any personal data obtained will not be held for any longer than necessary.
When you visit the BOWC website no personal information is either extracted or retained by the server. As we do not extract any personal information from web-browsing activities we do not share any such information with any other sporting bodies, companies or individuals.
Even though we are unable to identify users of the website by age, we will not include material on the website which encourages young people to participate in inappropriate activities.
The BOWC website contains links to websites which are external to BOWC. BOWC is not responsible for the content of such external sites and will endeavour never to link to any inappropriate website. BOWC is not responsible for the privacy policies of any external website.
