When did you start orienteering?

Age 7

How much do you train each week?

About 8-12 hours; 50-100km plus cross training eg bike/strength.

How do you split the training between speed training and technique?

About 2-3 technique sessions at weekends; maybe one mid-week; the rest running.

Is there one tip that has particularly helped to improve your performance?

Relax!

What indulgences (if any) did you have to give up?

Staying up late.

What do you do to relax?

Films/reading/music.

What areas do you like orienteering in most?

Stockholm terrain - fast but technical.

Have you won any races?

Last year I lived in Sweden and we won some relyas. I did OK in Stockholm City Cup but didn't win.

How do you run so fast through terrain without falling over or twisting an ankle?

I tape my ankles for races because it's happened a few times. I pick my legs up to prevent trips!

Was there any other sport you enjoyed when you were at school and had to give up to concentrate on orienteering?

Did everything: tennis, netball, hockey, ballet, football etc. Gradually cut back 'til just orienteering was left.

Did you do cross country when you were at school and, if so, were you any good at it?"

Since age 11, always in top 2-3 in Nottinghamshire county. My first English Schools I fell over and ended up 273rd.

Steffi Graf, Tanni Gray-Thompson, Lee Westwood, Brendan Foster.

What music do you listen to?

Mostly depressing Indie stuff but also some fun stuff eg Mr Scruff.
