1986.

How much do you train each week?

8-12 hours.

How do you split the training between speed training and technique?

Mostly physical training; technical at weekends (2 sessions +).

Is there one tip that has particularly helped to improve your performance?

"Go hard, or go home". It is all about attitude. Do you REALLY want to do this??

What indulgences (if any) did you have to give up?

None really - suits my lifestyle.

What do you do to relax?

Go for a steady fell run.

What areas do you like orienteering in most?

Moraine, open fell, sand dunes.

Have you won any races?

Yes. British Champs Men Open 2000, 2001 (Long); 2002 (Sprint & Middle).

How do you run so fast through terrain without falling over or twisting an ankle?

By training for it. by running through terrain.

Was there any other sport you enjoyed when you were at school and had to give up to concentrate on orienteering?

Cricket.

Yes - county level.
