5

When did you start orienteering?

When I was 10.

6

How much do you train each week?

Between 6 and 13 hours.

7

How do you split the training between speed training and technique?

Mixture of both!

8

Is there one tip that has particularly helped to improve your performance?

Believe you can win.

9

What indulgences (if any) did you have to give up?

None.

10

What do you do to relax?

Lie in the bath, go to the cinema, make clothes. Actually I find training destresses me quite well too!

11

What areas do you like orienteering in most?

Anything which is technically challenging.

12

Have you won any races?

World Students Championship Relay, 2002. Lots of JKs and Britishes when I was a junior.

13

How do you run so fast through terrain without falling over or twisting an ankle?

I tape my ankles to make sure I don't hurt them.  I think my body has got used to twisting in different directions to rescue itself from falling over.

14

Was there any other sport you enjoyed when you were at school and had to give up to concentrate on orienteering?

Netball, hockey and gymnastics I did at school but have since stopped.  Although I've now taken up climbing and go spinning quite often.  Other sports are good for cross training.

15

Did you do cross country when you were at school and, if so, were you any good at it?"

Yes, but only once a year because I was the only person in my school who could get round the course!  I ran in the inter-counties.

16

Which famous people have you met?

I've done hill reps up the Big Dipper in Merthyr Mawr at the same time as Darren Campbell and I once ran into Rory Mcgrath (literally!) whilst training in Cambridge.  Have also met Steve Backley and Denise Lewis.

17

What music do you listen to?

Mostly the radio but I'll listen to almost anything. Cheesey music for dancing to!
