1. Introduction
The Sprint Final will be held in Battersea Park, London. The park is situated on the south bank of the River Thames with a grand 1 km riverside promenade. It has some magnificent fountains, a large lake, a zoo, ornamental and ecological areas including many notable trees and many sporting facilities. It is a popular place for local residents.
We are grateful to Wandsworth Borough Council for the use of the park and its facilities, this being the first time that an International Orienteering Event has been held in the heart of London.
2. The Terrain
The races are being held in a flat, ornamental city park with many artificial features, bordering the south bank of the River Thames.
3. The Map
The map has been produced by Stirling Surveys. It is approximately A4 size (21x30cm), at 1:5,000 scale with 2.5 metre contour intervals.
The map is drawn in accordance with the International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps (ISSOM) Final Draft 2004. Competitors should ensure they are familiar with the symbols for passable and impassable fences, walls and bodies of water.
A black circle on the map (symbol 539) is used to represent a statue or sculpture.
A black cross on the map (symbol 540) is used to represent an ornamental tower.

5. Travel to and from the race
Journey time from the Event Centre to Battersea Park should be 50 to 60 minutes but is very dependent on the traffic conditions, especially in and around the Wandsworth one-way system, some 3 km before the Park.
Quite often free uk chat rooms are offered either as free trials or with a money back guarantee so go ahead and try them out. The Free UK Chat Rooms are excellent places to find the right psychic for you. Free uk chat rooms have always been there over internet.
It is recommended that everyone uses the official coaches from the Event Centre. We are not able to arrange adequate car parking in the immediate vicinity of Battersea Park. On-street parking in this part of London is likely to be difficult. Consequently it is strongly recommended that everyone reserves a seat on the official coaches for this day. The cost will be £10 per person for the return journey on this day, there will be no reduction for those not returning on the official coaches. Tickets should be purchased in advance at the Event Centre, preferably by 1600 on Friday.
Seats for those visitors requesting official transport to all venues during the event will be automatically booked on this day and the cost is included in the £40 fee.
6. Departure Time of Official Transport from The Spectrum
Coaches will leave the Spectrum from 0830, with the last departure at 0915. The coaches will drop competitors off at the west car park next to the check-in. (OS sheet 176; GR 276773).
7. Return Time of Official Transport from the Race Arena
Coaches will leave at 1430 from the car park to the north of the race arena not from where competitors were dropped off.
8. Other Visitors travel to and from the race
It is recommended that everyone uses the official coaches from the Event Centre, see above. The alternative is to use public transport. The Park is easily accessible by rail, underground and bus.
9. Travel Directions
If you do drive into London, you should take the A3 towards London and then use a London street map to find your way to the Park. Enter through the Albert Gate, just south of the Albert Bridge in the north west corner of the park and use the car park there; this will cost £4 at a meter, but spaces are limited. Otherwise park outside and walk in this gate. Competitors must only enter the park through this gate: entry to the Park through any other gate involves walking through the competition area and the risk of disqualification.
10. Car Park
There is no event car park - see above.
11. The Race Arena
The Race Arena will be at the Millennium Arena Athletics Track in the north-east of the park.
12. The Start Location and Procedure
On arrival competitors must go straight to check in and they must remain within the warm up area until their time to enter the pre-start. Competitors should note that the exit from the warm up area to pre-start (i.e. the -8 line) is 1.2km from check-in. The start will be in the arena, more details on the procedure are given in the earlier section.
13. Road Crossings
The courses cross several roads within the park. There will be very little traffic and such traffic should be moving slowly. Competitors may cross at any point.
14. Spectator Control
The courses are designed with spectator interest in mind, and several controls will be visible from within the Race Arena. Spectators and the general public will be allowed to move freely around the park during the competition. Everyone is asked not to impede or hinder competitors and not to obstruct the controls. The Park attracts many members of the public, who will be enjoying the many and varied facilities throughout the park and close to the courses. The Park is popular with joggers, cyclists and roller-bladers. It is likely to be very busy if the weather is good.
In addition to the public and competitors in the Surrey Five-O public races, approximately 400 young people will be present who will take part in a national inter-town Young Orienteers Festival, which will start immediately after the World Cup races.
15. Finish
See earlier section for details on finish procedure.
